We’re using the Post Types Locator to populate results for local psychics. Right now it works perfectly when users input their address.

I’d like to have users be able to search for taxonomies (post/page categories) within this box as well. Currently they are only displayed as a dropdown.

Also, is there a way to disable or remove businesses from the Autocomplete results we receive from Google?
Business results populate via the Autocomplete feature as well- even if we could search for taxonomies via the search form, businesses with similar names would show up as well & confuse the user. (Category ‘Psychic’ will return at least a dozen business results in any town)

We’d really rather not have an ugly drop down or a list of categories somewhere on the page. It looks soo much cleaner if it can all be done with the search form. Plz help!

    Google Address Autocomplete

    Hi Dan,

I’d like to have users be able to search for taxonomies (post/page categories) within this box as well. Currently they are only displayed as a dropdown.

If you mean to display taxonomies within the suggested results, then that won’t be possible. When entering an address, the Suggested results is returned and displayed by Google API and there is no way to modify that.
If you only want to search for taxonomies, based on the text entered in the address field, after for submission. Then it might be possible but will require a good amount of custom work. That’s, unfortunately, is not a solution that I can provide in the support forum.

Also, is there a way to disable or remove businesses from the Autocomplete results we receive from Google?

This is most likely possible but will require you to edit a core file. In the next version of the plugin there will be a filter that will allow you to do that using a custom function.

The only solution I can suggest for the taxonomies is the Premium Settings add-on. With the add-on you can use a “smart-box” for the taxonomies which will display the taxonomies as a “fancy” textbox with autocomplete instead of a simple dropdown. As an example, see the first two example on this page.

    I hope that helps.
