    Hello,

    1. Firstly I want to thank you for such an amazing plugin, one problem that I’m encountering is that it works perfectly in Google Chrome, but viewing it in Firefox / IE, nothing is showing up except the box and the title “Hello User”, no location is showing up or map on Firefox / IE. I am also using the add-on [Current Location].

    2. If I want to customize the [Current Location] Add-on, which file do I edit with FTP, I can’t seem to get a grip on the right one, I’ve tried to edit and revise the results, but they don’t seem to change on the live version.

    Thank you for your time.

Hello Startec and thank you for the feedback, I am glad you like GEO my WP :).

Are you using the current location shortcode or widget? Did you follow the directions from these pages for settings up the shortcode/widget?

Also, Can you provide a link to the live site?

Hello, thanks for the reply. I’m currently using the current location shortcode, I just want it to display the users current location, without the “Hello user” and the map, is that possible? For example, I want to have it like this: Your Location: Address – Country . If I can achieve this just as plain text, without border, this would be great.

Another quick question, when visitors view my site, it doesn’t ask them if they want the locator to locate their address, it does it without permissions. Is there any way I can enable it to ask the browser first if it is allowed to get the visitors address?

Quick note, my site is under maintenance, thats why I didn’t provide you with a link yet.

    You are welcome.

You should be able to do that using the “elements” shortcode attribute as described on this page. Something like [gmw_current_location elements=”address”] i believe. However, there borders will still be there so you will have to hide it using CSS.

when visitors view my site, it doesn’t ask them if they want the locator to locate their address, it does it without permissions.

That cannot be the case. GEO my WP uses the HTML 5 geolocation ( browser locator ) to locate the users and so it must ask for a permission before. The permission part cannot be controlled via a plugin so GEO my WP cannot disable it. The only thing I can think of is that you or the user set the browser to remember the choice made at the first time the browser asked for a permission. And so, in the next time the browser try to locate the user it will not ask for the permission again.

Thank you for the quick reply Eyal, really appreciate you taking the time to support me. Another favor, how I do I add a comma in between, for example: [gmw_current_location address_fields=”city,state_long,,country_long”]. This is the result: CityStateCountry. Is it possible to separate each part by itself, there is space in between them, but no commas.

    Hi,

Is it possible to separate each part by itself, there is space in between them, but no commas.

Adding the below script to the functions.php file of your theme/child theme should do:

    I hope that helps.

Hey Eyla, the code for the commas works great! One tiny mistake is that it has a comma in between the city name, for example: If a city has 2 words, it puts a comma in between them. Its putting an extra comma in there, how can I remove that extra comma?

Also, The shortcode [gmw_current_location elements=”address”] doesn’t display anything, but the normal shortcode, [gmw_current_location elements=”username, address, map” title=”Your Location” address_fields=”city,state,country”], works perfect, it displays hello user, the location and the map. All I want is the location to display plain, for example: City, State, Country.

I really appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions, I would like to donate something via PayPal, do you mind sending over your PayPal email?

    Thank You

    Try this script instead:

This should not happen. Most likely you did copy paste to the shortcode from the post above which results in coping some extra code.

    Try manually typing the shortcode:
    [gmw_current_location elements="address" address_fields="city,state,country"]

You are very welcome. And sure, donations are always appreciated 🙂 you can send it to payments@geomywp.com

Hey Eyal, I managed to do everything I needed, thanks to your help. One last question, my location doesn’t always show the correct one, is there a fix to this? For example: In Michigan, instead of it showing the correct one, that is Shelby Charter TS, it shows Utica, am not near Utica. I’ve also checked other websites that support geo location and they find the correct address, any fix would be great!

    Thank You!

    Hi,
If you are using the Auto-locator button to get your current location, then the plugin has no control on the results returned. The browser simply return your current coordinates and the plugin converts it to an address. It is usually very accurate but sometimes it might be bit off, depends on the device and how it retrieves the location.
