Couple of simple additions that would tidy up the Nearby Post shortcode/widget nicely.

1 – A link to more nearby locations at the bottom of the nearby posts. I might try doing this with a link and a shortcode, I’ll let you know if this workaround works!
2 – Incorporate the features from the Single Location Map into the nearby widget – such as the title and travelling directions. I currently need to include both widgets on my page and one would just be more elegant.
    e.g.

    Thanks.

    Hi Dave,

Thats Interesting, and your solution is pretty good. How otherwise would you see it working if added as part of the plugin?

I will look into it as well, but I am afraid that adding the direction system to each item in the result will cost in performance. But I will look into that.

And which title did you mean? the post title is already there.

1 – I thought I could pull in the zip code from a custom field and just use the results link from the form in order to open the results page. But the zip code has a space in it, so won’t work. I’m using shortcode from Advanced Custom Fields. Is there a specific url that will work just on Lat lon? It’s just a matter of plugging those co-ordinates from current post. I think a show more option would be much easier though, possibly adding to the map. Or a paginated widget where I could show the nearest 20 or so on the map, but limit the display below to a handful.

2 – I don’t think I’ve explained this one properly – all i want is to be able to use a single widget rather than two. At present, I’ve got a single location widget that displays a tidy post title and a directions link – to this current post’s single location. Then I’ve got a nearby widget as well. I’d just like the functionality from the single map incorporated into this one. It’s not really a big issue, just a matter of reducing widgets down.

I will need to look into that and see if I can come up with a nice solution. Perhaps, and “Show more location” link at the bottom of the list of results that will open a new page with more nearby results?
Or maybe a link that redirect to a search form that will dynamically perform a search based on the nearby location?

That, I believe, should be left the way it is as both widgets serve a different purpose. Adding the single widget behavior to the Nearby Locations add-on would just be duplicated code.

    I hope that makes sense.
