    As the subject says: I have no location field in the budypress profile section. I remember I once had one but don’t know what happened. It is simply not showing up. Tried to de-install the plugin (including manually deleting the DB tables) without any success.

    I am very interested in this plugin and will even go PRO when it works as it should. So, is anybody else having this issue and knows how to fix it?

    HI,

    do you mean no “Location” Tab. you should have “Location” tab once viewing your profile. once you go to the tab you should see the address fields

    Hi Eyal

    Exactly: no Location tab. Re-installing it didn’t help. I also changed the theme to the default buddypress theme without any changes.

    Could this have to do with the new Buddypress (1.7)?  I am going absolutely crazy trying to get this set up, but can find nothing about the most basic configuration with location in profiles.

    Would HAPPILY pay for premium if that meant I could get this working!

    Hi,

    it could be buddypress 1.7 that causes the issue. and no, the premium version wont fix the problem (but still will give you other cool features 🙂 ).

    if you have FTP access try this:

    1) open the file geo-my-wp/plugins/wppl-friends-locator/wppl-friends-locator.php

    2) go to line 105 which is:

    ‘slug’ => $bp->gmw_location->slug,

    and change it to :

    ‘slug’ => ‘my-location’,

    3) save the file and try again

    4) let me know if it helps

    @Eyal That did the trick, thanks.

    Now, if the following can be done/solved I am ready to go PRO:

    1) The default search by address won’t find any results when using a ZIP code (e.g. 8400). I thought that searching with ZIP codes should work (or do I have to customize the search widget to use wppl_zipcode instead of wppl_address?

    2) Is it possible in the PRO version to include a map on the first page, showing all entries with a kind of filter to show/hide members, custom post types like events, directory listings, classifieds, …?

    That’s Awesome!
    The issue you are having with the zipcode could be because of this particular zipcode. The plugin should work using only zipcode but I remember a user that has the same issue with few zipcodes that google could not fined. First, try entering the zipcode together with the country code (8400 us). Second, try a different zipcode and see if works.
    The global map is no yet in the current premium version but it is already exists in the current version I am working for the next update. Right now you can chose between post type or buddypress global map ( cannot filter one map to show either or both). For post type global map you can choose ( again, when creating the shortcode not live filtering) the post types to display ( if want to display multiple) or the taxonomies ( pre defined ) for one post type. As well as can choose the map icons and few more settings.
    This will improve over time.
    Again, this is not in the current premium version but on the under development update , which is a major update. Hopefully very soon will have a beta ready.

    OK, tried your suggestions. It does work with the country code but not without. It also does work when the zip code is exactly entered as in an existing location but there is no “nearby” possibility that way.

    I also have the google maps plugin from wpmu which actually should be able to display custom queries (post types, members, …) on one big map, so I am evaluating both. While yours seems to be better in “searching”, the other may be better for the big picture.

    YES! Now I see the location tab.  Thanks!

    This problem arose for me with the new Buddypress as well, but the problem is the fix described here is not working for me.  Any other ideas?
