Love the plugin, glad to pay and support your hard work. I just updated from 1.2 to the most recent version and had to completely rebuild my custom results / search pages as many of the classes and HTML hierarchy has changed, even some of the requests go by different names now. Too many CSS id’s are now classes, and much has been stripped (which I think is better), however frustrating that I had to spend so much time rebuilding. I hope that in the future things do not change so drastically, and if they do—it would be great to get an email heads-up so sites do not break.
Glad to see so many improvements and requests were implemented on the back-end.June 22, 2014 at 12:59 am #29341Eyal FitoussiMember
Thank you for your feedback.
GEO my WP indeed went through few major updates. When it changed from being WP Places Locator to GEO my WP, then version 2.0 and version 2.4. Many changes and new feature were introduces. as you mentioned all the class and ID tags, request names and other functions and CSS styling. I am aware of the in inconvenience changes as these might cause and I am doing my best to keep it minimal. But I am doing this only to improve the plugin.
When there is a major update I always send newsletter ( you can subscribe in the home page of the site at the bottom ) with details about the changes as well I write a blog post.
I also mention all the changes in the change-log of the plugin.
Regardless the inconvenience caused by the major updates you upgraded from an older version 1.2 to 2.5. Because of that you experienced an extreme change in the plugin.
I am not planing on any more major changes in styling, or other elements that might cause your plugin break. I will be mostly working on performance improvement, security, better code, new feature and such.
Please try to keep the plugin up to date so you won’t experience big changes in the future. I as well will try to keep things more organize and notify on any big changes in the future.
My apologies for the inconvenience you experience and thank you for your feedback and support.
I hope you’ll keep enjoying my work.
