I found out that WordPress has a few ‘standard’ custom field names at http://codex.wordpress.org/Geodata

I’d like to see the plugin suggest which field be given which of these custom field names (i.e. autofill instead of starting with all blanks).

The lat/long fields are obvious, but:

    1) I read http://docs.tempform.wpengine.com/gravity-forms-geolocation-fields-user-guide/ but what’s the difference (which is more internationalized / more accurate) between Full Address and Formatted Address. In other words, which should I set to WP’s ‘geo_address’ custom field? Here’s an example:

Full: 12324 East 86th Street North, Owasso, OK, United States

Formatted: 12324 East 86th Street North, Owasso, OK 74055, USA

    2) I’m not really sure what the context for ‘geo_public’ is (I guess if I’m planning to map it, it’ll be public but if it’s just for my records then it’d be private?), but maybe that custom field should be an additional field type in the form’s settings instead of having to be aware of it and then adding my own custom field to the form.

    Hi Clifford,
1)I don’t think I am going to add the default custom field to the settings. The fields are blank by default to allow the admin to choose if to use custom fields at all or not. Otherwise, the location will be saved in the custom fields by default.

    2) A) The full address field is the address entered by the user. It could be the single address field the multiple address fields ( street, city, state… ) combined.
    B) Formatted address field is the full address returned by Google API after geocoding.

Could you please elaborate on this?

Otherwise, the location will be saved in the custom fields by default.

Do you have any insight to how the geo_public field would be used? Is it something to maybe incorporate into this plugin or would you recommend just using an additional GF form field (radio or checkbox)?

In your opinion, do you think the ‘full address’ or the ‘formatted address’ is be the proper choice for the geo_address field?

    tyvm for the insights.

    1) I believe that the geo_public should be an additional checkbox field. There is nothing in the geocoded information of a location that indicates if the location is public or private.

    2) I think the Formatted address is the proper choice. That is the correct address returned by Google API which also includes commas where needed.
