Unfortunately, this bug is beyond our ability to fix. We don’t have the technical expertise. We would greatly appreciate it if you could do the following:
– Go to http://www.MusicWiz.club
– Sign up a new free user
– Try to update the location for this new user, and see if you see something we’re missing
ThanksDecember 15, 2015 at 4:21 am in reply to: Drop Down List box for Search on Checkbox XProfile field #49525
Yes, we would like your guidance in how to create this solution. In fact, we would like to apply the solution to more than one XProfile field. We understand that we will have to apply the solution after each update of plugin. What is the next step?
Thanks so much.August 31, 2015 at 8:31 am in reply to: Add Xprofile field to member profiles on results list #43591
Thank you so much, Eyal. That worked perfectly. I concatenated a second field, added new lines, and have just exactly what I want, thanks to you.
Great product with excellent support!
This sounds great, looks like we almost have a fix for the pagination/members per page problem! Our file doesn’t have line numbers, so looking for that one line of code seems impossible. We’ll just wait until you put out the next release which hopefully will fix the problem. Let us know when it’s fixed.
Thanks so much for all that you do!
We have the same problem and have been waiting for a fix. We temporarily “fixed” the problem by setting the number of members per page larger than our membership, but this fix won’t last long once we open our site to the public.
Thanks for giving this your attention!
Regarding the code example you gave above –Can this code example be used to set the default value of a BuddyPress XProfile field in the GEO my WP search form? If so, how can we find the id of an XProfile field?ThanksAugust 16, 2015 at 7:35 am in reply to: How to insert form with pre-selected category (w/o hiding the other choices) #42493
We have a situation similar to the one Tom described in this ticket. The difference is that we want to preset a selection coming from the BuddyPress XProfile fields.
On our “Find a Teacher” search, we want the BuddyPress XProfile field entitled “Primary Role” to automatically be set to “Teacher”. At the moment we have a drop down box with all the Primary Role values and the user has to select “Teacher”.
We set the default value of the Primary Role, but that doesn’t do anything. We don’t even want to display the drop down box, simply have the “Teacher” selection already set behind the scenes so the user doesn’t see all the Primary Roles.
Here’s hoping you can give us a wonderful solution!
For the time being we’re going to set the number of members per page to 25 so that we can go live this week. We will just keep increasing the number of members per page to keep it working until the bug is fixed. Please keep us posted on your progress.
We’re not allowed to share our admin and FTP access, so all I can do is describe our settings. You can test on our site – we sent the address earlier.
There are currently five members in our test list, so if I click on the search without entering any search values, I get back five matches.
I’m using your grey-grid template, and have set the size of the avatars to 100X100.
When I limit to 3 per page, I do not get any next/previous buttons at all.
When I limit to 2 per page, I get a set of next/previous buttons, but only for pages 1 and 2. So I get matches 1-2 on page 1, 3-4 on page 2, but no way to get to page 5.
Obviously we will need a lot more per page when we go live, but right now I’m just testing for five members.
Can you try to run this on our site, and let me know what other setting values you might need to replicate the problem on your end?
The next/previous navigation buttons have disappeared again on our search results page. The only thing that has changed since they were visible is the number of members in the search results.
Right now we have five members returned in a search that limits to 4 per page. We see the first four, but there is no way to get to the second page to see the last member in the return list.
It seems that you have a bug – navigation buttons for next and previous pages will only appear if certain settings are used or if a certain number of members is returned. We don’t know what combinations work and what combinations do not work.
We need navigation buttons to work for all situations before we can go live with our new site. This is getting urgent – hope you can help!
We have just done some testing and here is what we found:
1) We removed the code to require location. We actually want users to show up in the list whether or not they have set their location.
2) We reduced the items per page. If our number of items per page is 3 or 4, we get a nice way to navigate through all pages. If the number is > 4, there are no navigation choices. We are using grid-grey. If we use sweet date, the navigation is very confusing.
We can use it as is now, but you might want to check into these issues.
We just turned on the site for initial testing, so there are only three members with a location. We reduced the number per page to 2 so that you could see there is no way to get beyond the first page. We are using your default page for the results, not a custom template.
Thanks for your help – we need to get this issue resolved before we go live with this site.
Right now the results page is not usable.
Thanks for your suggestion. We added the code you suggested and now it seems to limit the search results to those members who have added their address. This is a nice feature, but doesn’t solve our issue.
The issue is: The user cannot move beyond the first page of search results. There is no navigation from the first page.
To answer your questions:
1) We just installed GO my WP last week, so we assume we are using the latest version.
2) We originally installed GMW Add-on – WP Users GEO-location, but deactivated it when we installed your BuddyPress version.
3) http://www.MusicWiz.club is the link. Search with no parameters and you’ll get nine members, but only able to see five.
Thanks so much for your help!
hi – We have tried both “wp_users” and “wp-users” , but still does not show in the drop down list of “Search Form Template”
– We need to have custom search form, to add new search drop-down for user category. Are we on the right path, what is the best way to accomplish this simple modification?
Are we missing something?
